The beer pumpkins have been delivered to The Olde Stone Brewing Co, 380 George St Peterborough. I have been fussing over these guys since they were little nerds. Now they are all grown up and going to make Momma proud by adding their beautiful flavour to The Olde Stones seasonal pumpkin brew! Go on down and enjoy a glug! The Rouge vif D'Etemps pumpkins are a heritage variety originating in France. They are a rich gorgeous sweet custardy pumpkin, delicious in pies, breads and deserts but are also yummy roasted with butter and S&P. There are a few available. Lemon Cucumber & Mouse Melon

What wonderful experiments these nifty guys turned out to be! The lemon cucumbers are beautiful, juicy, refreshing and the skin is tender and almost sweet. The one we had in our salad last night was just under 1 lb!
Now, the mouse melons are just plain adorable, so fun to watch grow. They start off so very tiny, even the plant looks like a mini watermelon plant! So cute, and tasty, tried our first ones today. Cucumber with a touch of a citrusy tone. We will definitely grow both varieties again and again!
